If I may have but a moment of your time, I would like to share something with you.
One of the most meaningful and significant things that people have in common, which is manifested in a wide variety of forms and intensities is fear. Fear of which, is the first and therefore oldest of emotions for people to experience.
I support the idea that most of the troubles and problems that people face in life originate from fear in some form or another. Just think about it for a second, fear almost always involves something that hasn't happened yet. One of the primary problems is that people tend to confuse danger which is imminent, with fear, which is mostly a story in someones head. Furthermore, being "careful," "cautious," and "lazy" are often used as clever ways to disguise fear.
If one wants to begin to pursue the opposite paths of fear. The fear of pain, the fear of loss, and the fear of discomfort. It would be a good start to see what the antonyms (words with the opposite meaning) for fear are. Language when used correctly and understood properly can teach you a lot and makes life richer.
OK anyways...
Some of the antonyms for "Fear" according to thesaurus.com is Assurance, Calmness, Confidence, Contentment, Ease, Encouragement, Trust, Calm, Comfort, Bravery, Courage, and Love.
After researching the definitions of fear and the above words, I came to the conclusion that the antonym love was the most consistent with what the opposite of fear would be like. If you think about it, the other antonyms mentioned are all various aspects of what love is and what it feels like.
There is a concept that rather than worrying about what you should not be doing to avoid troubles and problems, that it is better and more useful to focus on what you should be doing.
If fear is an emotion that people experience when they are trying to avoid something, whether consciously or subconsciously. Then that would go into the "worrying about what you should not do" category.
If we are to pursue the opposite of fear, and instead pursue its antonym love. Then that would mean that rather than trying to avoid doing things that scare us, perhaps instead we should open up and embrace those very things with love as the guiding factor.
There is a saying that fear is the only darkness.
To further illustrate my point. Imagine the polarity between utter despair and exquisite bliss. Assuming that achieving either one is impossible (because assuming otherwise would suggest that perfection either positively or negatively is possible, which is highly unlikely). Then that can only mean that one is constantly gravitating towards a destination with an endless journey.
If this is true, then that would also suggest that fear and love work very much the same way.
Therefore, I imagine that it would be best to at least be pointed in the right direction. Then to take the first step.
